A VERY OLD MAN WITH ENORMOUS WINGS - SOUTH AMERICA ContributorsJIM METZNER has been producing sound-rich radio programs for 25 years, from NPR's Voices in the Wind, followed by his first series, You're Hearing Boston, to other award-winning programs including You're Hearing San Francisco, You're Hearing America, The Sounds of Science, and Pulse of the Planet now in its 14th year. His work has been featured in Wired, The New York Times, National Geographic, the Wall Street Journal, on CBS television, and for public radio's Marketplace, All Things Considered, and The Savvy Traveler. He regularly appears on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, In 2002, he will launch a new radio series, Voices of Innovation. He is a graduate of The Yale School of Drama. KATE LUNA is a solo performer and storyteller Kate Luna has performed on national and regional stages for the last 15 years. She has written and performed three one woman shows which have toured on both coasts. Her work in radio includes a yearlong ive storytelling hour at a Northern California NPR affiliate and appearances on other dramatic programs including Hot Soup on KQED. She has lectured at colleges and universities, and directed and performed at many Spoken Word Festivals. CHARLTON GRIFFIN actor, narrator, and voice artist Launched Audio Connoisseur two years ago, a recording company which received the 2001 International Classic Fiction Audio Award and AudioFile magazines Earphone Award, for its popular release "The Short Stories of W.S. Maugham, Vol. I".Before that he was in the advertising business and was a major voice talent in San Francisco, which resulted in his mastery of the latest studio recording technology and recording/editing software as well as his lifelong love of great literature. He has a BFA degree and a major in Drama and Theater from the University of Georgia. CHRISTOPHER WILLITS (recording engineer) is a musician and multimedia artist located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Willits is involved in various media, ranging from site-specific interactive sound installations, image/sound works, radio, and live performances that incorporate acoustic instrumentation and homemade software systems. Christopher is a recent graduate from Mills College where he studied with Pauline Oliveros and Fred Frith among others, and is currently teaching classes in sound + image relationships and digital audio editing in the Bay Area. His musical releases include CDs with labels Fallt (Ireland) and 12k (New York). More info and a list of upcoming events is available at www.visuallistening.com JEREMIAH MOORE (recording engineer, sound designer, webmaster) is a media artist working primarily in sound. He has been fascinated with sound since before he was born. He got a start in radio with the innovative Terra Infirma module series in the early nineties. Having recently finished a stint as sound effects editor for a nationally broadcast cartoon series, he is now doing compositional work with sounds recorded in the field. He also works in theatre, film, radio, game sound, museum installations, and multimedia. He has won awards for sound design. He is currently working on a series of video works entitled "defused ads" which transform the source material of television ads into meaningless things of beauty. FOCUSED AUDIO (recording facility) is a high-quality boutique studio in San Francisco specializing in sound for animation, film, television, and radio. They recently finished a cartoon series for Warner Bros. and Sony.
